Dragon Quest Builders 2 is coming to Xbox next week and will launch on its new platform directly into Xbox Game Pass. The news was shared in an Xbox Wire post written by Square Enix's communications manager, Duncan Heavey, who shared the team's excitement.
"Dragon Quest Builders 2 is the acclaimed block-building RPG from Dragon Quest series creators Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama, and composer Koichi Sugiyama. It features a compelling story, charming characters, and the potential for incredible creativity."
Think of it as Dragon Quest meets Minecraft, with all the versatile world-building mechanics of the latter re-costumed in the setting of the former. DQB2 offers four-player online co-op and the Game Pass version will include post-launch DLC such as the Hotto Stuff Pack, Modernist Pack, Aquarium Pack, Designer’s Sunglasses, Historic Headwear, Dragonlord’s Throne, "and more!" according to Square Enix.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 first launched in 2019 to "Mighty" reviews here on OpenCritic. Today it has an 85 average from 110 critics, making it one of the highest-rated games of its launch year. It's rumored to be one of six upcoming Square Enix games that will migrate to Xbox via Game Pass in the near future, though no official sources have confirmed this just yet.
