Take-Two "Really Excited" About The Future Of Mafia After The Old Country's Success

Mafia: The Old Country seems a reasonable success for Hangar 13, 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive. The Sicilian romp attracted an admirable number of concurrent players on Steam and was reviewed, though reviews were disappointing.

The marketing for Mafia: The Old Country positioned the game as a post-Mafia 3 revival, and, although The Old Country is by no means a perfect game, fans seem to appreciate the pivot away from where Mafia 3 was taking the series.

In an interview with IGN, Take-Two head Strauss Zelnick had very positive words to say about Mafia: The Old Country and its commercial performance. When asked if Mafia: The Old Country performed well enough for everyone to be confident about the future of the series, Zelnick replied "Definitely."

"We're really excited about Mafia, and I think that's a great question because it is sort of a reset for the franchise," he continued. "We don't have anything to announce — that comes from the label — but it definitely performed well ahead of expectations."
