Right now, it’s really good to be a Nintendo fan. Even with all the hate that is being thrown at the fanbase, as I talked about in the most recent Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, the company is currently dominating the industry. The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 10 million units, all of its big titles have sold multiple millions, and more big games are coming soon. You’d be fair in thinking that the company might be “reveling in its success.” Yes, for President Shuntaro Furukawa, that’s not actually the case. He’s keeping a level head and focusing on making Switch 2 as big as possible.
In a special Investor Q&A, Shuntaro Furukawa talked about how the new console is doing well, but it has a long way to go to match up to the sales its predecessor had:
That’s a very humble approach to take, given the records they’ve shattered since June. Yet, they’re already fulfilling that promise, as there are big games coming in both the next few weeks and in the first months of 2026 that will help make the Switch 2 the “destination console” once people are ready to buy it.
