The We Were Here series has long been a standout in the two-player cooperative puzzle genre. Built around asymmetric information, its core appeal lies in piecing together clues and communicating them to your partner. The latest installment, however, takes a slightly different approach. New equipment significantly picks up the pace, while the fresh puzzle mechanics built around it show a clear effort to make the series more accessible to modern players. Although the lack of sufficient puzzle clues can be frustrating at times, the game still offers an enjoyable new way to experience the series.

Despite a few rough edges and the lack of a buddy pass, We Were Here Tomorrow is undoubtedly the highest point reached so far by Total Mayhem Games' series: an engaging and stimulating co-op adventure where player synergy and observation skills are key. New mechanics and clear progress in level design and puzzle complexity make it a must-buy for genre fans and anyone looking for a co-op adventure to play in one go.

Total Mayhem Games has long held a special place in the hearts of co-operative puzzle aficionados. Ever since the original We Were Here dropped in 2017, the studio’s signature recipe—asymmetrical puzzles, strict walkie-talkie communication, and atmospheric environmental storytelling—has set the standard for cooperative brainteasers. With We Were Here Tomorrow, the developers make their most audacious leap yet. Trading the familiar medieval, icy gothic confines of Castle Rock for a sleek, eerie retro-futuristic research facility buried deep beneath Antarctic ice, We Were Here Tomorrow reinvents the franchise’s aesthetic while refining its core mechanics into near-perfection. The result is an exhilarating, brain-melting, and occasionally shout-inducing adventure that proves two heads are infinitely better than one, although you may fall out with your partner in crime.

We Were Here Tomorrow is an excellent sci-fi escapade that evolves upon the series’ puzzling formula in a satisfying fashion. The challenging enigmas are a treat to solve, the sci-fi setting makes for some wonderful sights, and the co-op gameplay loop feels better than ever. It really is a hell of a lot of fun to play, and whilst it could have done with a little bit more polish in some places, it still manages to stand out as another must-play entry in the series.
