Animal Crossing: New Horizons has unsurprisingly been a hit.

In a recent financial report, Nintendo revealed the number of copies that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold worldwide so far (via Siliconera). As of March 31st, 2021, New Horizons had sold 35.9 million copies. The game was a hit when it had launched, selling 11.77 million copies within its first 11 days of release. A sales report from Famitsu this past January had revealed that New Horizons and the Nintendo Switch were the top sellers in the video game market in Japan for the year 2020.

It was also revealed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Ring Fit Adventure were big sellers as well, though they did not come close to New Horizons. According to the report, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 10.62 million units, while Ring Fit Adventures sold 7.38 million units. These numbers were based on worldwide sales and not just Japan.

New Horizons' has a few events coming up. On May 18th, the International Museum Day event will begin. The event will end on May 31st. During this time, players will be able to participate in the Stamp Rally. After speaking to Blathers, gamers will receive a special stamp card, and will be able to earn stamps by viewing the fish, insect, fossil, and art exhibits in the museum. Throughout June, players will be able to take part in the Wedding Season event. The event begins on June 1st, and lasts until June 30th. During this time, players will be able to meet with Reese and Cyrus, who got married last year, and take wedding pictures with them. Players will also be able to pick up wedding season-themed furniture and fashion items through Nook Shopping and the Able Sisters' shop during the event.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch.
