It's no secret that Genshin Impact has gone through a bit of a content drought in 2025 – having only released a new zone in Version 5.5, Version 5.8, and Version 6.0. By contrast, 2024 featured five map expansions across Fontaine and Natlan, while 2023 featured six across Sumeru and Fontaine. Given that the key pillars of Genshin Impact have been its characters and its open world, the lack of new zones has been a notable topic in its community.
Natlan and Nod-Krai have each introduced some of the best map expansions in Genshin Impact, with many players singing praises for Ochkanatlan in particular. While Genshin Impact has maintained the quality of its open world content, the quantity is something it has struggled with in 2025. Neither Version 6.1 nor Version 6.2 will feature a map expansion, and players will need to wait until January 14, 2026, to take their exploration of Nod-Krai further. However, according to a recent leak, this may change in the coming year.
