PlayStation's Days of Play event has been announced.

On the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that their Days of Play event will start soon. The event will kick off on May 18th. The event is meant to call on the PlayStation community to join together to achieve a number of goals and earn a number of themes and avatars in the process. Gamers can start registering today, and can do so until May 31st.

There will be three stages during the Days of Play event, with each stage having three community goals. The first goal is to have gamers play for a certain amount of hours every week. Players will earn a point for ever hour that they play, with double points awarded to those who play with users on their Friends list. The second goal is to earn a target number of trophies every week. Each player can have up to six trophies count towards the goal. There will also be a bonus goal. If the first two goals are met, there will be a new set of Bonus Goals that the community can work towards. Completing the goals will reward players with PSN avatars and PlayStation 4 themes.

For this stage, the goals that players must reach are 2.4 million hours of gameplay and 7.2 million trophies. The bonus goals are 3 million hours played and 8.8 million trophies earned.
