The unique setup of traveling through time to take down enemies across history is fascinating, and it's even caught the eye of many modding groups over the years, thanks to the setting's limitless potential.
Although TimeSplitters 4 has been long canceled, fans have been looking for a way to revive the franchise for ages, and now they've done it with TimeSplitters Rewind, as detailed on the team's blog. The project is now available in Early Access form after a long wait, so you can check out this fan revival for yourself.
For roughly a decade, about 200 contributors have worked on TimeSplitters Rewind to get it ready, including some AAA game developers and hobbyists. The idea is to capture the essence of the entire TimeSplitters trilogy in one massive game, while forging its own identity that can't really be classified as a remake or remaster.
