Deep Silver has revealed Free Radical Design, a brand-new studio built to resurrect TimeSplitters, the beloved first-person action game that has laid dormant since 2005.

If the name Free Radical Design sounds familiar, that's because it's the name of the original development team that worked on the series at the turn of the millenium. Some of the team's original members, including including founders Steve Ellis and David Doak, have reunited to revive the franchise, something fans have been requesting for over a decade.

“It’s this unique style that earned the TimeSplitters series a large and passionate following who will, without doubt, be excited by the formation of Deep Silver’s latest studio and will look forward to learning more as the franchise moves forward,” said Paul Nicholls, Global Brand and Marketing Director at Deep Silver.

“To finally be able to confirm that the studio has been formed and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is incredible,” commented Steve Ellis, Studio Development Director at Free Radical Design. “While we cannot tell you anything more at the moment, we look forward to sharing information in the future.”

Right now, Free Radical Design says the focus is on building the studio's team, so true game development won't begin for another few months. That likely means the eventualy release will come almost 20 years since the most recent game, TimeSplitters Future Perfect, released in 2005.
