Final Fantasy Collides With The Witcher In Stunning New Free RPG

Never underestimate the power of an RPG that vaguely looks like Final Fantasy. Although not every clone is created equal, this one seems to be doing quite a bit right.

It helps that it's backed by a massive publisher, and one that has run a free-to-play game for many years with great success. Oh, and it looks gorgeous to boot, and is conveniently on Steam.

After many years of supporting Warframe, Digital Extremes is entering the fantasy arena with the similarly-named Soulframe. As a fantasy action RPG, you'll play as an Envoy, and take out enemies bent on taking over the world. It's available to wishlist on Steam, and outside of a few alpha and test periods, it doesn't have a release date yet. Although it was initially slated for 2025, we're cutting it a bit close now that we're nearing December, so it's entirely possible we won't see Soulframe proper until early 2026.

The main thing to take note of is that Digital Extremes seems to have used everything they've learned so far to craft a dazzlingly beautiful game, with lovely particle effects and a ton of personality. The fact that it seems to owe a...
