The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 has been an interesting one. Nintendo will have six first-party titles release on the platform in the first six months: Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Metroid Prime 4.
Five of these games are out now, and in typical Nintendo fashion, have been heavily marketed across Nintendo's many platforms, including YouTube, Twitter, and the Nintendo Today app. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the only title yet to launch, and is due out a week from today. To see just how muted it is, we combed through Nintendo's marketing channels to see the volume of posts Prime 4 has received compared to Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Kirby, and the contrast is stark.
Before we start, it's worth noting that we couldn't examine Nintendo's TV presence or its physical marketing campaigns, such as the London Underground posters that popped up earlier this year, for this report. We did, however, spend time calculating every second of pre-launch content...
