With Resident Evil 2 being the start of the survival-horror series' transition into fully-fledged modern remakes, we never got to see what the graphical upgrade of a more straightforward remaster would look like. Thankfully, thanks to the dedicated Resident Evil community, we can finally know for ourselves with the RE: Enhanced V.2.0 upgrade.
Created by SonicB00M on MODDB as an upgrade to their previous RE: Enhance mod for Resident Evil 2, the latest update massively overhauls the experience to something much closer to an official release with brand-new backgrounds, resolution, and enhanced textures. Even going as far as offering separate versions for GOG users or players using the Seamless HD Project, RE: Enhance could be the definitive way to experience the original Resident Evil 2.
On top of the image clarifying resolution enhancements you would expect from a remaster project, many of the individual assets, like posters, signage, notice boards, and other environmental details, have been manually recreated to enhance the overall experience. Several menus and other in-game effects have also been manually improved or upscaled with AI as well, making the overall experience come to life even more.
