Hollow Knight: Silksong Might Skip The Game Awards As Devs Predict This RPG's GOTY Chances

It's no secret that Hollow Knight: Silksong was one of the biggest hits of 2025, with an absolutely massive number of players and positive reviews. Despite its success, Team Cherry doesn't seem keen on making an appearance at this year's Game Awards. While Team Cherry is busy chipping away at Silksong's next major content update, it's not the only reason they don't plan on flying out this year.

During an interview with Bloomberg, Silksong developer Ari Gibson stated that they "think [they]'re safe" from having to give any award speeches for GOTY this time around, and that Expedition 33 is more likely to take home the prize. Although Silksong is likely to win at least a few awards this year, its developers are worried that the difficulty of Silksong puts them at a "knife's edge" compared to Expedition 33's ease of access.

Even in the days leading up to Silksong's long-awaited release, Team Cherry was still working away at adding as many details and features as they could to the full experience, which is already carrying over into its next update.
