Following the development of the Knights of the Old Republic remake has been a roller coaster, and it might be picking up again. Announced in 2021, the KOTOR remake has been subject to studio changes and constant rumors of cancellation, but development has seemingly persisted.
Yesterday, reputable leaker Kurakasis claimed on X that "A big Star Wars game announcement is coming very soon," a statement that might bode well for the KOTOR remake. The post clarifies that the announcement won't be related to Zero Company or Eclipse.
If it involves a known project, that would narrow the options to KOTOR, a third Star Wars Jedi title, or an untitled project from Amy Hennig and Skydance.
Tracing the path of the KOTOR remake to this point is akin to following a trail of bread crumbs. In 2022, a report of an indefinite delay was the first real cause for concern, followed by the removal of its original trailer in 2023.
