Roblox is now banned throughout Russia due to a federal government agency's claims that it allows for the spread of propaganda, including terrorist activity and support for the LGBTQIA+ movement. There are already at least eight other countries in the world where Roblox is restricted or banned, and Russia's inclusion on that list is expected to block more than 2 million active daily users across the country from accessing it.
First launched in the fall of 2006, Roblox has grown into one of the largest online gaming platforms in the world, with an excess of 100 million active monthly players diving into thousands of different fan-made games. Some of the more popular games available through Roblox, which include but are not limited to Forsaken, Rivals, and Grow a Garden, posted daily player rates of well over 120,000 for November 2025, which puts them ahead of the current daily player counts of major Triple-A titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. But despite the platform's popularity, it's also been a controversial talking point for a number of reasons this year, with Russia's ban providing just the latest example.
