At this point, PlayStation Plus has built up quite a following. I remember subscribing to it the day it launched and being underwhelmed, but slowly building up a cache of games to play on a rainy day. Now, it has a few more benefits.
As announced on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has a free online multiplayer weekend promotion going on, but you'll need to act fast to take advantage of it.
This weekend, Sony is providing 48 hours of free online play, even if you don't have a PlayStation Plus membership. This is a great chance to play Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, or any number of live service games you've been putting off if your membership has lapsed.
To be clear, this promotion lets you play your owned games online on PlayStation Plus without a subscription. It doesn't instantly grant you access to other games or PlayStation Plus bonuses/perks, just the ability to play online, which has been gated by the service for many years, along with other platform holders.
Also, be aware that outages on the PSN sometimes occur when there's a critical mass of people. So if you're planning to take advantage of this...
