Pokémon Red HD-2D Remake Leaves Fans Absolutely Stunned

Pokémon Red and Blue have long been fan-favorites, and for good reason. They kickstarted the franchise here in the West, and the original Gen 1 Pokémon are some of the most iconic of all time. From the series mascot Pikachu to Charizard, Mewtwo, and other classics, there's a ton to love about the Kanto region. And now, an HD-2D remake video is showing us just what we're missing out on.

Posted over on YouTube by FIONX, the video, titled "Pokémon HD-2D in Unreal Engine 5 - Calm Walk Through Kanto [No Commentary]" shows off parts of Kanto with the HD-2D art style made popular by Square Enix games like Octopath Traveler. Pidgey and various starter Pokémon like Bulbasaur and Squirtle are seen in the video, alongside various early locations found in the Kanto region.

After some mixed reviews for recent games like Legends: Z-A and Scarlet and Violet, the Pokémon series has quite the divided fanbase. But everyone seems to agree this art style looks amazing for it.
