Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is widely considered one of the best Star Wars game series ever made, which is why players were incredibly excited when they first learned of a remake in the works at Aspyr Media back in 2021. However, as development woes seem to trouble the studio and the years continue to pass without much news, players have begun to wonder what's going on with the remake.
According to a new leak (via Game File), a full remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 is officially in the works at Mad Head Games alongside the original KOTOR remake. The aim is to rebuild both games with updated visuals and gameplay suited for modern hardware while preserving the original story and characters.
The original Knights of the Old Republic remake is apparently still in development at Mad Head Games and scheduled to launch in the near future, with a possible announcement at The Game Awards 2025. The "leak" comes from a deposition statement from Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly in a lawsuit earlier this year.
