PlayStation icon Kratos has been absent from the limelight since the God of War series went quiet following Ragnarök's roguelike expansion, Valhalla, but signs are starting to point to his imminent comeback. Rumors have been floating around for months suggesting two God of War projects are in development, but developer Santa Monica Studio has yet to reveal anything, though that might change at The Game Awards 2025.
Once prodigious leaker, The Snitch, has reemerged with a textbook cryptic post: a close-up of what appears to be the top of Kratos' head. The God of War's ash-white skin is unmistakable, especially when the edge of his trademark red tattoos are visible. The Snitch's post seems to imply that a new God of War game will be revealed at The Game Awards on Thursday, December 11. The leaker once had a stellar track record, but retired from the role late in 2022 – apparently a temporary retirement.
The most likely reveal for God of War is a 2.5D game that has long been speculated to be approaching completion. It is most commonly thought to be a metroidvania spin-off, set in the franchise's original locale, Ancient Greece, and starring Deimos, Kratos brother....
