In the run-up to The Game Awards, rumors of a new The Legend of Zelda remake have been circulating. Nintendo's famed fantasy franchise has a long history of remakes and re-releases, but the developer and publisher's usually minimal presence at TGA makes this most recent rumor quite curious.

Social media account Nintendeals is responsible for the Zelda remake rumors, tweeting nothing more than "a zelda remake." Nintendeals doesn't necessarily have a history of leaks – the account collates and posts gaming sales, Nintendo titles included – but as something of an industry insider, it's possible they could have acquired information on an upcoming reveal.

Nintendeals cryptic tweet went up on December 9, two days before The Game Awards livestream on December 11. TGA has become a major destination for gaming industry announcements and trailers, making it the perfect place to debut a new Zelda title, but Nintendo's track record at the event isn't strong.
