Madden 22 Gets An Official Podcast, Goes Deep On Franchise Mode

Madden NFL 22 will launch with a focus on Franchise mode for what feels like the first time in a decade. The Tiburon team recently took a deep dive into the series' most popular mode and explained what Franchise players can look forward to.

In the team's new video series, Madden NFL 22 All-Access, Tiburon will be breaking down new gameplay features every week, and they've decided to start with one of the focuses to this year's game: Franchise mode. In Madden, upwards of 80% of all play is done versus the CPU in solo Franchise or other single-player modes, and after a decade of intense focus on MUT, to the delight of EA's bottom line but the dismay of many fans, the legacy mode is getting a much-needed overhaul.

It starts with new coaching skill trees, which allow players to upgrade their coaches to fit their scheme and build the team they want to have. Players can sign and upgrade coaches across four areas: Head Coach Offensive and Defensive Coordinators, and Player Personnel Staff. Each position has its own skills, with dozens of skills available in the game at launch and more coming in post-game updates.

On top of that, the team will be overhauling pre-draft college scouting with a new system that accounts for regional athletes and allows you to manage and better understand your scouting department, pinpointing where you want to spend your time, not just by position, by across the US. This update will launch in September as a free post-game update.

Also new to Franchise this year is a much greater focus on opponent scouting. The pre-game rankings and stats have been blown way out to quickly provide information on your next opponent, such as what kind of formations they run and where they have the most success. It's these nitty-gritty details that players have asked for many years running now, and if the rest of the game is good, this feels like it could be the best Madden in years. You can see a lot more on the game in this Franchise deep dive video.

On top of all that, the team has revealed an official companion podcast that will lead into the launch of Madden NFL 22 on August 20 for all major platforms except Switch. The Making Madden Podcast will debut today at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, with future episodes airing during the summer. The podcast will be available on major podcast aggregators, like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and TuneIn.
