After Years Of Searching, Minecraft Fans Have Finally Uncovered The Official Resource Pack Used In Trailers

You might've noticed that Minecraft key art and trailers don't really look like Minecraft - the textures are far more cartoony, with vibrant block colours and simplified details, stripping everything down to its most basic. It's a drastic stylistic shift, but one that fans were so enamoured with that they've spent years searching for an official resource pack to no avail.

There have been numerous attempts from the community to recreate the visuals from scratch, or at least match the trailers' vibe, and plenty of calls on Mojang to release the textures outright, but thanks to u/Potato_Man147477, we finally have the real deal; "Merl is an AI chatbot used [on the Minecraft website], they recently updated it to include a background," they explained. "I learned it was a 3D background and it included the texture atlas for most of the trailer textures Mojang uses".

They ripped the texture atlas from the website and uploaded it to the Minecraft wiki where anyone can now download it, placing the ball firmly in the community's court. Anyone, including you, now has the means to make an official Barebones resource pack, matching the trailers and key art 1:1.
