Larian Studios announced Divinity at this year's Game Awards, and everyone has been extremely eager to find out more about the studio's upcoming RPG ever since. We've already received a lot of information on the upcoming title, courtesy of studio head Swen Vincke.
Divinity is getting a new, proprietary engine which Larian is developing alongside the RPG. In an interview with our own Jade King, Vincke revealed how excited everyone at the studio is about the new technology.
"We moved Divinity forward because we were already working on a new engine for it. And you could see that the excitement was instantly back in the room, because we had all these new things we could do, and this freedom," Vincke explains.
"So, I think for us as developers, that was the right move, and I like to think if it was the right move for us as developers, it will be the right thing for players. That they will recognise the joy that we have making this game. They'll see the fun that we're putting into it translate, hopefully. That decision was made at the beginning of 2024, so not that long after Baldur's Gate 3."
