Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 rumored to feature battle royale mode

on | OpenCritic

According to Kotaku, Activision is working on a battle royale game mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This corroborates "two sources" close to the project as originally reported by Polygon, though at this point, it is still firmly in the rumor mill.

Battle royale sees up to a hundred players dropped onto a large map where they face off against other players in competition for gear and resources in an effort to be the "last player standing". Over time, the map's size decreases to force players into closer proximity to one another. This type of game mode has exploded on the scene recently with games like Fortnite Battle Royale and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 fans will see more revealed about what to expect from the game during a special live stream event to be held on May 17th. The game is due out on October 12th for PC, PlayStation 4 and XBox One.
