It seems Horizon Forbidden West may not release this year.

Sony may be delaying Horizon Forbidden West into next year according to new reports. GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb stated on his Giant Bomb show that he had heard from a source that Sony is planning to delay the game into 2022 (via VGC). Grubb suggested that the next State of Play stream could take place in September, where the announcement of the delay could take place.

"I've heard, not certain, but I've heard that something's coming in September and... I'm trying to debate if I want to be the one to say this... I think 'that game' is going to get delayed to 2022," Grubb stated.

"I don't know for sure, I think its still undecided, but I think its leaning towards Horizon Forbidden West in 2022.

"I think they'll have a September State of Play to say, 'here are the other things we're going to have in the fall, here's a bunch of exciting stuff, don't worry,' but then I think Horizon Forbidden West is going to be 2022."

Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. The game once again follows Aloy, as she ventures into the Forbidden West. The land is dying, and vicious storms and an unstoppable blight ravage the remnants of humanity, all while fearsome new machines prowl the land. Life on Earth is heading to another extinction, and nobody knows why. It is now up to Aloy to uncover the secrets behind these threats, and restore order and balance to the world. During this journey she must reunite with old friends, forge alliances with warring factions, and unravel the legacy of the ancient past. She must do all this while trying to stay one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy.

Horizon Forbidden West is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
