The results are in, and after much speculation about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's sales figures amid its subpar player counts, it's official: Black Ops 7 is the worst-performing Call of Duty title in years.

More specifically, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the worst-performing annualized COD since 2008, when a combination of licensed music video games and the popularity of the Wii suffocated World at War, according to new data released from Circana.

Activision has admitted that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fell short, and it won't make the same mistakes again.

In its place, Battlefield 6, the first Battlefield title in four years, took out-beat its stiffest competition for the first time in franchise history.

To start, Mat Piscatella, senior director at Circana, revealed on Bluesky the Top 20 best-selling games for 2025 in the United States. In the No. 1 spot is Battlefield 6, followed by NBA 2K26, Borderlands 4, Monster Hunter Wilds and Black Ops 7.
