The wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a long one, but there was a time when we had more hope. Back in a 2022 Xbox Games Showcase, we got a new trailer and were told that everything shown off in the livestream would launch within the next 12 months. This wasn't a specific release date, sure, but it seemed like a pretty solid launch window.
But of course, June 2023 came around and there was nothing. We had been told a month prior that this would be the case, with Silksong being hit with a delay, but the day came to symbolise the hope that Hollow Knight fans have clung to throughout Silksong's development, going into every gaming showcase.
Now, as highlighted by Twitter user @fyridk, yet another year has passed since Silksong's supposed release date. So, according to Xbox's original announcement, we should have had the game for a full year already - and there's still no release date in sight.
Of course, to be exact, we are two days off the actual anniversary. However, as @fyridk highlights in the replies, Xbox's 2024 showcase has come and gone, and there was no mention of Silksong at all.
