Resident Evil Requiem was always going to be one of 2026's biggest games. The series has undergone something of a resurgence since 2017's Biohazard and 2019's Resident Evil 2 Remake, and audiences new and old have flocked to Capcom's survival horror franchise.
With Requiem's release just a few short hours ago, it's evident how popular the series is once again, as it's already cracked the top ten player count charts of all time on Steam, and in doing so, has become the biggest Resident Evil launch on the platform.
Within just an hour and a half of its release, 267,509 players were concurrently playing Resident Evil Requiem on Steam, according to SteamDB. That's the 56th-highest concurrent player count the platform has ever seen, and when you remove all the titles with a multiplayer component, it's the tenth-highest ever.
