Resident Evil Requiem Boss Implies Messages About Leon's Marriage Have Been Edited, Giving Claire Shippers Hope

Discussion surrounding Resident Evil Requiem—by all accounts, a fantastic game—has been dominated by the question of whom co-protagonist Leon S. Kennedy is married to. Kennedy is a long-time favourite among fans of the series, and people are desperate to know who wears the counterpart to his wedding ring, which is visible in a few of Requiem's cutscenes.

The obvious answer is Ada Wong, a spy whom Leon first met in Resident Evil 2 and has encountered several times throughout his career fighting bioterrorism. Leon and Ada shared a kiss in Resident Evil 2, and have had a flirtatious relationship ever since (granted, Leon is more of a follower in these exchanges). Ada isn't shy about placing Leon in life-threatening danger, but she's usually around to save him, which is... good I suppose?

We all thought Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed the relationship between Leon and Ada when he replied affirmatively to fans who messaged him about their marriage. However, a recent Instagram story from the director (spotted by Kotaku) seems to imply that a few of the screenshots being circulated around have been faked and/or edited.
