NetherRealm has just shared Takeda's gameplay trailer, revealing how the fighter will play in Mortal Kombat 1. This is ahead of his launch on July 23, where he'll join the roster alongside the new Kameo fighter, Ferra.
The reveal was just shared on social media, showing how Takeda plays after sitting out the series for almost a decade. His last appearance was in his debut game, Mortal Kombat X, as he was part of a new generation of fighters, referred to as the Kombat Kids.
Given that Mortal Kombat 1 takes place in an entirely new timeline, the Kombat Kids do not appear in the game. However, it was then confirmed that Takeda would join the roster as a DLC fighter, making him the only member of the gang to be playable in the new timeline.
It's not entirely clear how Takeda fits into this new timeline, but the trailer does give us some hints. For starters, Johnny Cage jokingly references the other Kombat Kids ("an archer, a couple of soldiers"), but Takeda doesn't seem to pick up on this, so he's probably a new version of the character.
