Playground Games today revealed the full map of Forza Horizon 6, which features a (very) downsized version of downtown Tokyo and a lot of the city's surrounding countryside, including a portion of the Japanese Alps.
The map is the series' "biggest ever," according to art director Don Aceta, but we won't get to see everything right away. According to s, Forza Horizon 6 is the first-ever entry in the series that will have fog of war, i.e. locations won't appear on your map until you physically visit them first.
"This new system is designed to tell you where you have been and what you have seen in a really legible way," said design director Torbern Ellert in an episode of the official Xbox podcast. "We have this rule with all of the Discover Japan content where if you find it, you can play it."
"Ultimately, freedom is a core design pillar for us — we've really tried not to force you to go and do a specific thing, but instead, tempt you into going and doing them," he continued.
