It's been a while since we've last heard anything about the Metro first-person shooter survival horror video games that are based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Beyond a VR spin-off entry titled Metro Awakening, the last real Metro title was Metro Exodus all the way back in 2019.
If rumors are to be believed, we're about to learn more about the next Metro game extremely soon.
Initially, AlexandreNGamR took to social media to share that "a new Metro game should be announced next week."
Then, reliable insider NateTheHate corroborated that rumor by noting that it was true.
If that wasn't enough confirmation, another reliable insider, Jez Corden, revealed that the title is named Metro 2039, and that it's coming "soon."
However, that's not the only significant bit of Metro-related news in the ether. Because just as word began spreading of an imminent reveal for the next Metro title, a supposed cancelled build of said title has made its way onto the web.
