The dramatic back and forth between Krafton and Unknown Worlds regarding Subnautica 2 has somehow taken another unexpected twist. Krafton's name has been scrubbed from the upcoming sequel's Steam and Epic Games Store pages, suggesting that even though the studio owns the Subnautica developer, it is no longer publishing the follow-up.

It's unclear when exactly the publisher details on the store pages were changed, but at the time of typing this, Unknown Worlds is listed as both the publisher and the developer of Subnautica 2. Up until recently, despite the tumultuous legal issues between the two, both Krafton and Unknown Worlds were listed as publishers.

The review-bombings have begun.

This is where things get even murkier. On the surface, that suggests Krafton no longer has any connection to Subnautica 2, but it's not that simple. This isn't just a case of a publisher and a developer working together on an upcoming release. Krafton is, or was, the publisher of Subnautica 2 because it owns Unknown Worlds, having acquired the studio in 2021.

That presumably hasn't changed, unless Unknown Worlds has pulled some sort of Hail Mary and bought back its independence, which seems unlikely considering the circumstances. In...
