Ratchet & Clank 3 Speedrun Hits "Under 1 Second" Record

Speedrunner Joaof has discovered a new exploit for the Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal HD port, shaving the record down to less than a second.

As explained by YouTuber Xem, the "Wrong Warp to Credits" glitch works by exploiting a quitting bug. If you hit a specific address when quitting the game, you can set a new state when reloading. "Game State 9 is the credits," so if you split just right, the game will immediately jump to the final sequence the second that Ratchet exits his ship.

Up Your Arsenal speedruns begin when you gain control of Ratchet on Veldin.

Some in the community have discredited this exploit as a cheat, but it's worth noting that the speedrunning world records are already split into two distinct categories: Any% and No FC.

The current verified Any% world record, 3:24, was achieved using exploits, whereas the No FC record is currently 38m 37s, so using the new "Wrong Warp to Credits" doesn't nullify pre-existing runs, as the leaderboards make it clear when exploits were used.
