Wizards of the Coast Fails to Recognize Magic: The Gathering Arena Union, the United Wizards of the Coast | TechRaptor

Gaming giant Wizards of the Coast has failed to recognize the newly formed United Wizards of the Coast. The developers behind Magic: The Gathering Arena now have new steps to take towards their terms with their employers.

The United Wizards of the Coast union was officially announced on April 27, done in partnership with the Communications Workers Association (CWA). Its announcement was made alongside an open letter to developer Wizards of the Coast on an official website. The letter requested sustainable workloads, protections around AI use, and sustained long-term stewardship of Magic: The Gathering brand.

The letter also requested Wizards of the Coast voluntarily recognize the union with the deadline of May 1st. That deadline has passed and in an official social media post, United Wizards of the Coast stated that WOTC have declined to recognize the union. No official representatives reached out to speak to the union in any capacity.

So what is next for the United Wizards of the Coast? An official election will need to be held by all eligible employees, overseen by the National Labor Relations Board. The election will have all employees vote on whether or not to form a Union. That election...
