Despite its name, it felt like Halo Infinite wouldn't be infinite at all, and that the team at Halo Studios had left it behind to focus on what's next for the series. Seems the latest Halo game might be a little more infinite than we thought after all, as it just got a new, surprisingly big, update out of nowhere.
The reason this update comes as such a shock is because Halo Studios categorically said that Infinite's last update, which was rolled out at the end of last year, would be its last. There's an argument to be made that this week's Firefight Gauntlet update might not be considered "major", but at 10.2 GB and with an all-new mode added to the game, it feels pretty major to me.
The project, titled the Halo Archive, has preserved the history of one of gaming's most important franchises.
