Marvel Rivals Drops To Mixed Reviews Over Matchmaking And Performance Issues

Marvel Rivals launched to a wave of positivity, heralded as a much-needed alternative to Overwatch. But that was back in 2024. Now, Overwatch is actually doing pretty well again, whereas complaints about Marvel Rivals just keep stacking up.

With Season 7 about to come to a close, Marvel Rivals' recent Steam reviews have dipped into "mixed". This is thanks to a bunch of recent negative reviews, complaining about everything from matchmaking to performance issues - and the game's ever-ballooning file size.

"Terrible match-making system. The company claims it does not use an 'engagement' matching system, but it clearly does," reads one of the most recent negative reviews.

I don't know about engagement matchmaking, but I was still getting blatant bot matches after a few losses when I played earlier this season.

"The worst matchmaking I've seen in any online game," another review reads. "It's purposely set up so that you win matches with a great team, then get thrown back a couple of matches with a bad team to keep you stuck in the grind. The devs keep denying it, but it's so obvious with the skill gap in games."
