New Star Fox Announced For Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo abruptly announced a Star Fox Direct ten minutes before I started typing this article. I'm not complaining. New Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2? Heck yes. Here's the scoop.

It's the N64 version. Except it isn't. It's a full-blown remake, maintaining the original game's level layout, but bringing some truly impressive visuals and music to enhance the experience in ways that fans have always dreamed.

Throughout the reveal trailer for the game, which is literally called "Star Fox," an announcer goes over the Arwing, the Landmaster, the Bluemarine, and all sorts of stuff that everybody who's played Star Fox 64 already knows about.

The character designs are sure to draw some ire here and there; I've already witnessed one colleague lamenting Fox's own revamp. Personally, I think everybody looks pretty great. But it is funny watching this trailer go over so much that we recognize from a decades-old title.

Which isn't to say there aren't new things, too. There are plentiful new cutscenes, including mission briefings that weren't in the original, allowing folks to learn more about the characters than ever before. Easy, Normal, and Expert settings are included. A four-versus-four battle mode and a challenge...
