The Director of the upcoming third entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has said the game could receive DLC, much like the first game did, which might make up for taking DLC away from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake added a handful of DLC chapters in its later releases, making Yuffie playable and giving her the chance to explore Midgar. Many expected the sequel to do the same, likely giving fans their first chance to play as Cid or Vincent, but Square Enix shot down the idea of any DLC content.
While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth might not have DLC, the same isn't necessarily true of its sequel. According to Director Naoki Hamaguchi in an interview with ntower, he kept the door open for expansions for the third game, depending on fan response.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Will Get DLC If There's Fan Demand
Hamaguchi confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth didn't receive DLC because production on the next game had already begun. DLC was considered, but completing it would have meant taking time away from the third game and pushing it back even further.
Hamaguchi is open to the idea of DLC...
