Nintendo really made us wait for that new Star Fox game reveal following months of rumors. Then it dropped a Direct on us with about ten minutes' notice. That Direct revealed Star Fox 64 is getting a Switch 2 remake titled Star Fox, and while it looks good, fans of the series are divided on its character designs.
The people who are the most excited about the remake are those who have been playing Star Fox games for the last 30 years. That's why they're the ones who were caught off guard when we were given our first look at what a remade Fox McCloud is going to look like.
Star Fox will lean a little more heavily on looking real than other core Nintendo series like Mario and Donkey Kong. Between that and this being a remake of a game that's almost 30 years old, a game in which Fox, Falco, and the rest of the crew were pretty basic, colorful 3D models, it's understandable why it might be tricky for Nintendo to get the designs just right, and even trickier to give the characters makeovers that are going to please everyone.
