Mixtape Throws Its Hat Into The GOTY Ring With Stellar Review Scores

Mixtape finally releases today after an initial delay, but it sounds like Annapura's latest offering is going to be well worth the wait. Reviews for Mixtape are hitting the internet and, as it stands, it is the highest-rated game of the year so far by quite some distance.

The narrative-driven teenage adventure currently has a score of 94 on OpenCritic. Not only does that make it the highest-rated game of 2026 to date, taking the number one spot from the 90-rated Pokemon Pokopia, but it's the first game this year to register a score so strong that it might not be beaten by anything that's still to come.

Hades 2 was the highest-rated game of 2024 with a 94, while Astro Bot claimed the crown in 2024 with a 95.
