Yesterday, the long-starved Kingdom Hearts fanbase erupted in excitement. A tease from the official Tokyo Game Show social media accounts tweeted a loading bar graphic using fonts and colors similar to the ones seen in the Kingdom Hearts series. A tease for the date 05/12/2026 accompanied it. This had to mean we were getting news for Kingdom Hearts 4 soon, or so social media believed.
But as May 12 is now here, those hopes have well and truly been quashed, with the graphic not teasing anything Kingdom Hearts related at all.
"WE ARE SO BACK," exclaimed Ale on Twitter with a GIF of Kingdom Hearts. "IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS," added Skillful. Unfortunately, we are not back, though, and that is not what you think it is.
It turns out that what Tokyo Game Show was teasing was not Kingdom Hearts 4 news, but instead, the teaser graphic for the 2026 show, alongside its slogan, "The Longest Five Days of Nonstop Play." The graphic was accompanied by a short video of the show's venue, Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, about an hour from the center of Tokyo.
Naturally, after a few excited commenters, the Kingdom Hearts fans began...
