The Baldur's Gate 3 community has an almost unparalleled sense of creativity. Since the game's launch in 2023, dozens of large-scale, hyper-ambitious projects have begun to sprout.
One is aiming to expand the game's second act with new areas, NPCs, dungeons, quests, encounters, and more; however, that has just been delayed. Another, Path to Menzoberranzan, is aiming to recreate the second game. A third, developed by a team called Deathbringer's Reign, is planning on bringing the series' first title into BG3 as a custom campaign.
Earlier this year, they revealed their recreation of that game's starting area, Candlekeep, and now, just two months later, they've unveiled a massive overhaul of that area, making it completely unrecognizable.
Deathbringer's Reign's first iteration of Candlekeep was impressive. Initially developed by a single modder, the library-monastery had been recreated in all of its glory. This new version takes it to another level, though.
First shared in the custom campaign's official Discord, the overhauled version of Candlekeep and its surroundings has been given a complete visual makeover.
The project's leader, 786r786 revealed that "This new version leans into a more overgrown garden aesthetic." And that it does.
