Former Tekken director, Katsuhiro Harada, has announced his new venture just six months after his departure from Bandai Namco, a company he worked at for over 20 years.
Harada is now heading up VS Studio, a brand-new development outfit headquartered in Tokyo. VS Studio will be operating under SNK Corporation, creators of Fatal Fury, King of Fighters and Metal Slug — a natural place for a fighting game legend like Harada to end up.
"We will combine technology, sensibility, and world-class expertise to pursue the ultimate," Harada said in an announcement post. "From a free, open and spacious environment, we will generate new ideas and create memorable games. We established this studio to bring this vision to life."
The VS in VS Studio has numerous meanings, such as Video Software; the 'Versus' of fighting games; Vanguard Spirit, and so on. Harada is wholly focused on innovation, though what that will look like if he intends to pursue the genre he's known for is unknown.
