Grand Theft Auto 6 hype reached a fever pitch today, though exactly why, I couldn't really tell you. It seemed as though a bunch of fan theories surrounding exactly when the game's third trailer would drop all culminated on May 12, whether it be down to how far away Take-Two's upcoming earnings call is, or whether Game Informer had a cheeky tease up its sleeve.
You can never really figure out exactly what GTA 6 believers have come up with to justify news coming soon, and this is coming from a pretty hardcore Hollow Knight: Silksong enjoyer. You're looking at a fanbase that regularly uses in-game license plates and phases of the moon to determine when Rockstar is going to drop more news.
That being said, for some reason, today was the day that everyone decided Rockstar was going to do something GTA 6-related. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case, and Rockstar is now having to deal with the backlash of not doing anything when it never promised to do anything in the first place.
