It's been a while now, but ever since Rocksteady finally bit the bullet and ended the life of the constantly clowned upon Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, there has been talk about what exactly the studio would start work on next. It's pretty clear that its live service ambitions flopped tremendously, so perhaps a return to the single-player Batman games it's actually good at would make sense.
And, according to reports, that's exactly what Rocksteady is apparently planning to do. In a report from Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier back in 2025, he claims that Rocksteady has been "looking to return to Batman for a single-player game", but that it would be "years away" from releasing. A Rocksteady job listing was found shortly after that, looking for a director with experience in "third-person action, melee brawlers, and open world traversal games", seemed to back up that report.
If Rocksteady is going to head back to Batman, then you do have to wonder exactly how the Arkham series will continue, seeing as though Bruce Wayne was either blown up or faked his death, depending on your interpretation. It's possible we may see someone else don the cowl, but...
