At launch, Party Animals clocked in at a very impressive 104,174 concurrent players on Steam. It averaged over 25,000 players at all times within its launch month. Since then, the player base has been in steady decline, peaking at 8,716 players today and averaging just 2,815 over the last 30.
Its decline has been rapid, and the team is clearly desperate to draw players back. However, its method of doing so has drawn widespread ire from the gaming world, as it has just announced an "AI Video Contest" with a $75,000 prize pool on social media.
"What wild ideas have you had for Party Animals? Join the 'Golden Paw Awards' now — Party Animals 1st AI Video Contest!" A post on social media begins. "A short film you've been dreaming of making, a story that breaks all the rules, a character tribute to your favorite beast... In the past, ideas like these could only exist in your head.
