Assassin's Creed Hexe is the project name for the series' upcoming instalment. The game focuses on the witch trials that occurred in the Holy Roman Empire, possibly during the second half of the 16th century.
There have been several rumours swirling around the production of Hexe over the last year, and, as we know, Ubisoft tends to be a leaky ship, which gives these claims more credibility than they would otherwise have.
The well-known leaker j0nathan recently published a screenshot they claim is from Hexe, depicting an assassin hiding in a tree in a dark forest, a hidden blade at the ready (via IGN)
This certainly tracks with the setting of Hexe, which is said to be comprised of dark, European forests. Because nothing screams witch-y and the occult like a dark forest, right?
They also doubled down on an existing leak that Hexe's protagonist is a woman named Anika, who interacts with a mentor figure named Wolfgang. They also said fan-favourite character Ezio Auditore will appear in Hexe, though not in the flesh (Ezio likely existed over a hundred years before the events of Hexe).
