We know that Nintendo can be pretty fickle when it comes to fans using the designs of its popular characters to their own benefit. Fan-made games are often shut down, while it can also be pretty dangerous to sell your own Nintendo-themed creations. It's pretty cruddy, as I personally think fan art should be embraced, but even I will probably draw the line at narcotics.
Yes, in quite possibly the most bizarre Nintendo-related news you'll see all year (first reported by Kotaku), a man in New Haven, Connecticut called Ronnel Rogers has been sentenced to six years in prison for possessing firearms and distributing drugs. You may now be asking how this related to Nintendo, so low and behold the Mario-shaped meth pills that this man had been handing out.
During a traffic stop back in 2024, Rogers was found with several substances on his person, as he was intending to sell them. One of these substances was meth pills shaped like "cartoon characters that could be mistaken for candy." The District Attorney’s Office then published a photograph of these pills (which you can see above), and that's definitely our favorite Italian plumber.
