European RPG developer Warhorse Studios has revealed two of their next projects following the release of 2025's Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and the first is a described as a "Middle-earth RPG".
Right now there isn't much more to now about the game, other than that it apparently will also be an open world game, apparently following in the trend of Kingdom Come Deliverance games. It also is perhaps notable that it is described as a 'Middle-earth RPG' rather than as a Lord of the Rings RPG, meaning we are likely to see something that is not set around the War of the Ring depicted in Tolkien's seminal fantasy books. Whether that's earlier in the Third Age, or in an earlier age entirely, it isn't without precedent for video games as the Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and Mordor were set earlier in the Third Age.
Beyond working on the open world Middle-earth RPG, Warhorse Studios is also going to continue work on their own IP - Kingdom Come. This might be DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, or something else entirely. It is described as a 'new Kingdom Come adventure', which is distinct from a new RPG...
